#MusicMondays: Round - Glass [Hivern Discs]

I discovered John Talabot just last year and am in love with any mix I find of his, in particular this one for Melt 2014. He's a Producer/DJ from Spain and heads up the label 'Hivern Discs' which has just released this beautiful piece of music from producer 'Round'.

Round is from Denmark and as far as I can see this is his first release. 

This track is Massively uplifting, I'm in love. Plus it comes on this beautiful white vinyl

My Ayahuasca Journey: Just The Beginning

The view from our room. We're back to life, back to reality - although, life seemed pretty damn real whilst away on the retreat this weekend.  I managed to record my thoughts in this video of the first Ayahuasca ceremony, yet after the second and third I didn't feel it was right.  Here's what happened on the first night: I'm going to sum up what happened on the second night - no doubt there will be things missing but whatever flows through my clumsily typing fingers right now is obvs what I'm 'meant' to share.  The second night was just as daunting as the first going into it. We were told that this brew would be stronger than the initial dose the night before and that the experience would be different. And it was. Something I'd learnt about Ayahuasca is that it is very helpful to go into the session with an 'intention' which could be a question you'd like the answer for or an enlightening inspiration you'd like t

The UK Bass Music show on Sub FM with Lara & Nikki

Lara and I host a monthly slot on internet radio station, Sub FM where we curate the UK Bass Music show representing music we love and write about on our blog, ukbassmusic.com Whilst we're still starting out and getting used to the technicals (neither of us are DJs) the idea of being able to present some of the amazing music we get sent to our listeners is what helps crack the initial nerves... it's about the music and the spreading of the love first and foremost, we also stream our faces live over on facebook each show to increase the reach of the sounds. You can lock in every 4 Monday's (next one 11th Jan 2018) and in the meantime you can listen or watch back the shows and appreciate this sick music with us.

The journey continues...

For most of my adult life, at least as long as I can remember I've had this strong attraction to the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu high up in the mountains in Cusco, Peru, South America. I didn't know anything about it apart from seeing beautiful images and developed a  knowing that one day I would love to experience it. It's been on my Google doc-based bucket list for quite some time now. We have these dreams, these wishes that you say 'one day' about, don't we? My growing love for Radio Presenting

A couple of years ago I wrote on this blog  about how much I would love to present my own radio show. It's something that has been in the back of my mind for years and years but my lack of personal confidence always stopped me from pursuing it seriously. Amazingly, off the back of that post I was invited to appear as a guest host for the TRAP93 show on Reprezent FM which was a fantastic experience at a well-run community based station that is doing great things, and seeing how supportive their environment is for it's members and the artists it features and promotes really watered my interest in the world of radio. Fast forwarding to 2018 (how has time gone so quickly?) I am now presenting the UK Bass Music show with my co-host, Lara on Subtle FM. It's a monthly show, and although we've only presented two shows from the studio so far, I'm becoming more comfortable and (hopefully) more entertaining for the listeners.
