#MusicMondays: Randomer - Bring

Image
Randomer - Bring: released in 2013 would still make me get the dirtface out on the dancefloor

#MusicMondays: Eone6 & NinthDelta mix for Kool Kids Klub

Resident DJs at one of the best events in Essex, Eone6 & NinthDelta have been hyping up dancefloors for quite some years, and off the back of being absolute sublime selecta's they've built up quite the following. and for very good reason too.  Their sets offer the full journey into House, UK Garage swerving into Techno, Grime and Dubstep. Basically if you want a party these two will provide an infinite amount of pure, unadulterated vibes.  They've just put together an incredible example of their skills and kindly allowed free downloads, I recommend downloading this for your commute/gym session/tidy up time around the house - I'm on the double digits of listen already and am still loving it, it's a mix that just keeps giving!! Cereal (Psycho) Killer

Image
Finally got to experience the Cereal Killer Cafe on Brick Lane last week and it lived up to expectations! of course, it is what it says, it's a cafe... where you order cereal... but the combinations, cocktails and selection is unreal! Definitely worth a pop in if you're in the area. They also have a store in Camden Lock Market too which I'm assured has beds with retro bedding too! link:  http://cerealkillercafe.co.uk/the-cafe

Day dreamers: The Power of Choice

Image
It saddens me sometimes to the point of tears to know so many people who live a life of limitations when they don't have to. If only they were to realise that they are in control. Not their past, not their present, not their lack of money, not their upbringing, not their current lack of knowledge, not their current position. Just their self belief. When I'm in the presence of someone who gets that 'penny drop' moment, that epiphany.. that understanding that helps them realise, that Butterfly-out-of-a-Chrysalis moment when they finally realise this... wow. When they realise that they have the choice  to transcend the limitations held only i n their mind and finally come to the realisation that there are no boundaries, just those they impose on themselves.. that, that is one of the most special moments I have ever witnessed.

#MusicMondays: Moomin - Time Circles

Image
Recommended earlier today by a friend with impeccable music taste this one got me choked.  I've already listened several times and it seems like each time i do, my brain and heart gives it a different meaning, like re-visiting a dream and trying to interpret it depending on what mood you're in. First time it was happy,  like a soundtrack to a new beginning in life. The second listen was slightly sad as if letting go of an old way of life to move on. Both feeling states seemingly representing the same situation yet from different viewpoints but no matter what the emotion I can't deny the power behind this beautiful track. Wait for the strings. Close your eyes. And enjoy the journey x Grab this track and the other releases on Closer Records >  http://closer-music.com/

#MusicMondays Danny Scrilla - The Rift

alright alright I know it's not 'technically' Monday but the day after a bank holiday is definitely treated as a Monday in the UK - anyone arriving at the office to 309724 emails today will know what I mean. This little beauty was introduced to me last year, it's a lovely track with lots of the plinky-plonky noises that I am ever-so predictably drawn to. It's been my ringtone ever since so, inevitably, every time I hear it I look for my phone. Still love it though! That's saying something. Nice swing to the percussion, lovely plinky plonk synth from Danny Scrilla. Keep your eyes on him. he's about to drop an EP with Kromestar and has releases on Cosmic Bridge, Civil Music + more. Oh, and if you like this, check out the rest of the EP > https://dannyscrilla.bandcamp.com/album/monolith-ep < and follow him on Twitter  @Danny_Scrilla Enjoy!

#MusicMondays: Menik & Sublok feat. Ni Foster - Our Own

Image
So utterly proud to list this track as today's Music Monday, especially as I'm lucky enough to be Menik's Manager! He is an incredibly talented musician/producer, this was one of the first tracks I heard from him which made my ears prick up and jump at the chance of working with him. His Soundcloud reveals more beautiful music from him here More info on Tom here Enjoy and keep your eyes peeled for more from Menik very soon x

Start the day off right. With an inspirational Dr Seuss poem

Image
I started my day by reading this wonderfully inspiring poem by Dr Seuss - not only is it entertaining, it's beautiful. Enjoy x Dr Seuss - Oh, the Places You'll Go! Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go. You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care. About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there." With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street. And you may not find any you'll want to go down. In that case, of course, you'll head straight out of town. It's opener there in the wide open air. Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you. And then things start ...

Image
I discovered John Talabot just last year and am in love with any mix I find of his, in particular this one for Melt 2014 . He's a Producer/DJ from Spain and heads up the label 'Hivern Discs' which has just released this beautiful piece of music from producer 'Round'. Round is from Denmark and as far as I can see this is his first release.  This track is Massively uplifting, I'm in love. Plus it comes on this beautiful white vinyl Enjoy! video link below

Harvard study proves effectiveness of Meditation

Image
I'm absolutely thrilled at this news.  Harvard proves the positive effects of Meditation by studying MR (magnetic resonance) images of the brain's of participants of students taking part in a 8 week 'Mindful Meditation' programme.  Images were taken 2 weeks before and after the programme and showed significant increase in 'gray-matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion and introspection.'  For such a highly regarded institute to publish a paper on what was previously classed as 'pseudoscience' (pseu·do·sci·ence (so͞o′dō-sī′əns) n. A theory, methodology, or practice that is considered to be without scientific foundation.) this is fantastic news! Proof that a simple daily exercise which involves just breathing and clearing your mind can improve the effectiveness and health of your brain! Next, hopefully, we'll start to see proof on what ...

#MusicMondays: Mala - In Luv

Image
Love this track so much. Such warm bass accompanied by beautiful vocals from Erykah Badu & Stephen Marley. A real zoner. Big up Mala every time - the consistent simplicity yet effectiveness of his production is absolutely sublime. Enjoy x Note: as with most of the tracks I pick for MusicMondays - make sure you have some bass friendly earphones/speakers when listening otherwise you'll miss out on the magic.

#MusicMondays: The Bug ft. Flowdan & Killa P - Skeng

Image
You may call me biased but I loved this track before knowing Flowdan and Killa P let alone working with them - this was one of my favourite tracks of that year, 2007, in fact, I'm pretty sure it was doing the rounds before that - and this was definitely one of those crowning moments for me, it drew me into the subbass realms of Dubstep even further, I was a newbie around 2006/07 and this along with a couple of Kiss 100 sets I still have ripped to CD from Hatcha and Crazy D well and truly solidified my new found addiction. By the way, if you're listening to this through laptop speakers, don't. That's silly. You need bass.  Life is nuts. I loved this track, years later I'm working with Killa P, and now I'm Flowdan's manager. Plus I was at the location of this video shoot a couple of weeks ago. If someone had have told me this would have been happening back then when I still had a sub in my Navy Peugeot 206 I would definitely have not believed them....

#MusicMondays: L-Wiz - Girl From Codeine City

Image
Swedish duo L-Wiz are behind this absolute beauty of a Music Monday. Released on Caspa's label Dub Police in 2008 - this track was rightfully played at pretty much every Dubstep event I attended, nice Reggae influenced bounce to it, beautiful melody from the saxophone which easily helps your mind drift away on top of more than enough bassweight to make you screw up your face (a welcome side effect when stood in front of a seriously bassy sound system) enjoy x

#MusicMondays: Trentemøller - Miss You

Image
Released in 2006, this track was made by Danish producer, Anders Trentemøller and still sounds fresh. I'm a fan of 'plinky plonky' noises so much so that this was my phone ringtone for about 12 months and I'm still not bored of it. Enjoy x

#MusicMondays: Stray - Since You've Been Gone

Image
Addicted. Stray - Since You've Been Gone found it's way into my brain and has never left, the video is beautiful, the track, perfect. Stray is normally known to produce Drum & Bass either under his own name or 'Ivy Lab' which is a collective made up of himself, Sabre & Halogenix. 'Since You've Been Gone' is Dilla-esque Hip Hop track featured on a free mixtape he gave away this month via his Soundcloud. Download the mixtape here:  https://soundcloud.com/stray/sets/since-youve-been-gone And listen to this beautiful track below.
